The ‘Proud Schools’ program being piloted in New South Wales schools teaches young people that it is “heterosexism” to believe sexual relationships normally occur between men and women. Teachers are trained to identify and stamp out “heterosexist” language and behavior. The $250,000 pilot program has been implemented at six high schools in Sydney and six in the Hunter. “It is envisaged that this program will be made available to non-government schools as well,” said NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli.
